When I was pregnant with my 3rd baby, after a traumatic 2nd birth (with pelvic floor damage that took a YEAR of PT to recover from), I knew there had to be a better way to do things so that I could care for myself, my newborn, and my family without feeling railroaded by my birth.

My physical therapist recommended delivering unmedicated so that I could better listen to my body's urgers and protect my newly healed pelvic floor. I wasn't convinced that I would be able to birth entirely unmedicated, but I at least wanted to TRY.

To prepare for that, I took a class about The Hormones of Labor, which completely changed my perspective on managing labor pain. I went on to give birth to a beautiful 9lbs 13ounce baby boy, entirely unmedicated, and to my SURPRISE, I LOVED IT!

Yes, I still had pain (that I was quite loud about), but I felt completely calm. In fact, I have never felt more loved and supported in my entire life than I did at 9cm dilated with my doula on one side, my husband on the other side, and the knowledge, confidence, and peace on the inside.
